After multiple successes of turning various movie franchises like "Star Wars," "Indiana Jones" and "Pirates of the Caribbean" into yellow brick video games, Warner Bros. has announced the next movie franchise to get the Lego treatment: “Lego Marvel Avengers.” The game will reportedly take aspects from the first "Avengers" movie and the upcoming sequel "Avengers: Age of Ultron," while mixing in the overly familiar Lego gameplay.

The game is set to release for Fall 2015 according to IGN. So it will be sometime after the second movie comes out, which is good for fans that don’t want to get spoiled on the upcoming summer blockbuster. No playable characters have been revealed, but fans can expect the main cast from "The Avengers" – Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, etc. – with the possible additions of new nemesis Ultron and the Maximoff twins: Quicksilver and The Scarlet Witch who are set to appear in the sequel. Who knows, maybe the "Mad Titan" Thanos will appear as well.

One possible concern could be the amount of playable characters that will be available. A previous Lego game from Warner Bros. called “Lego Marvel Super Heroes” had a gigantic roster that mixed mainstream heroes like The X-Men, Spider-Man and The Guardians of the Galaxy with obscure characters that comic book fans love and appreciate like Moon Knight, Daredevil and Deadpool. Since this will be based on the Marvel films, the roster might pull an “Ant-Man” and shrink considerably.

Another aspect that most fans are either going to hate or accept is that it’s another Lego game. The mix of platforming, brick collecting, puzzles and combat is a bit too overly familiar with fans of the Lego game franchise. It’s so familiar that Game Informer actually has a list of things “Lego Avengers” should improve upon.

Of course the game has made a number of big improvements since the release of “Lego Star Wars” way back in 2005. The games have mostly abandoned the silent routine of previous games and have either added voice acting or have matched audio recordings from the films they’re based on. Some games like “Lego Batman 2” have even added original stories, rather than forcing the player to go through the story of the films again. It remains to be seen if “Lego Avengers” will avenge the Lego games, but considering the long running success of the series, there might not be anything to avenge.
