Channel Nine presenter Erin McNaught was back in action yesterday after undergoing emergency surgery to reattach her index finger on Wednesday.
The model and presenter nearly had the digit on her hand severed last week in a freak accident. This occurred while she was reviewing an electric dirt bike for the youth TV show Cybershack.
McNaught now sports a cast that spans her entire right hand and forearm. It will stay on for 6 weeks and she has also been instructed to undergo intensive physiotherapy. Surgeons are optimistic that she will regain 80% of the finger's functionality as the operation to reattach it went smoothly.
The former Miss Universe Australia entrant can look forward to physiotherapy exercises every hour on the hour for the next 3 months. According to McNaught, the experience has been a 'crazy' one. Family and friends have taken it upon themselves to remind her to carry out the 5-minute exercises.
The accident took place when the presenter apparently did not realize the dirt bike's quiet electric engine was still running. She revved it by accident when she'd turned around and the finger in question had been caught in the disc brake. She was initially more concerned about having dropped the vehicle before noticing the injury she sustained.
