The latest happening in the internet world was China’s strict internet censorship and the country continues to stand firm as it has reportedly closed down the country’s supposedly largest training website for hackers.
According to the government, the website called Black Hawk Safety Net, provided hacking lessons and sold malicious software. In addition, this has led to arrests of three people suspected of operating the website.
Ever since the issue of Google threatening to leave the country, hacking has been a sensitive topic in China. Google reported that China-based hackers attacked its operations in which the Chinese government has denied anything to do with it.
According to the China Daily and the Wuhan Evening News, the hacker training operation openly recruited thousands of members online and provided them with cyber attack lessons and Trojan software. To date, Black Hawk Safety Net has more than 12,000 paying subscribers and collected over seven million yuan (AUD 1.2 million) in membership fees as well as 170,000 people with free membership.
The Hubei government refused to comment on the reports.
It was unclear when the shutdown had taken place but the Black Hawk Safety Net site was unavailable on Monday. The China government is actively taking steps to ensure the whole internet network is under their control, but the question is how long it can sustain as the cyber world is enormous.
