A Brazilian young man got so obsessed with South Korea that he underwent a series of cosmetic surgeries to look Korean.

Xiahn, a 25-year-old exchange student from Brazil, was a blonde man with blue eyes when he arrived in South Korea. However, one year of study at the Dongseo University made him obsessed with Korean drama and pop music. He wanted to look like his fellow students with dark hair and "slanted" eyes, Daily Mail reported.

"I put my fingers inside the eye and pulled. That was the way I wanted to have my eyes. I guess now yes I'm there, I just need to wait for the swelling (to go down) for the end result. I was not afraid that something would go wrong, but I was afraid to stay with scarring in the eye and so I did look plastic, but everything worked out. My vision is perfect," Xiahn said.

Xiahn spent more than $3,000 and went through more than 10 operations to look like a natural-born Korean. His original name is Max and the shape of his nose is the only thing that reminds of his ethnicity. The series of surgeries changed the shape of Xiahn's eyes and dark contact lenses help his "Asian" looks even more.

Update: Xiahn told IBT that there is a confusion regarding his natural hair and eye colour. "My natural hair and eyes are brown. Some news are mistaken saying that I had natural blue eyes while in fact in my old pictures I used to wear blue lenses," he said.

Xiahn hit back at his critics on Facebook. "Regardless of religion that the person is, whether or not you believe in past lives, you have only this life, you have to be who you want to be," he wrote. Huffington Post quoted him saying, "Koreans have many surgeries to modify the shape of their eyes and become more like Westerners. It was easy to tell when one of them had done it, walking on the street wearing sunglasses and a surgical mask."

The International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery in South Korea says that the country is the 7th highest country to perform cosmetic surgeries with 258,250 done in 2011.
