'Containment' TV series: Series creator Julie Plec talks about new CW TV series, working on three shows
The CW Network’s new TV series titled “Containment” is set to debut in 2016. TV series creator and producer Julie Plec talked about the new TV series based on the Belgian drama series “Cordon” in 2014 and the experience of working on another show in addition to the successful TV series “The Vampire Diaries” and “The Originals.”
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter (THR), Plec sees “Containment” running for as long as the show can sustain itself. “I can see it taking on various forms over [the show's length]. I don't think it has to remain contained to that containment,” Plec told THR.
Plec admitted that working on a limited order show is so much fun and she would be happy to keep on doing it for a while. “It is a dream come true,” Plec shared.
The pilot episode of “Containment” features the time jump on what will happen in the show’s world. When asked if the new CW TV series will cover the period set up in the pilot episode, Plec teased that the new CW TV series will go beyond that time by the ninth episode.
“There's still another four [episodes] to go beyond that. We'll take it a little bit further and see the fallout of that horrific event, and where everybody lands,” Plec further added. The fans will see some familiar faces from the CW’s “The Vampire Diaries” and “The Originals” in Plec’s upcoming new TV series “Containment.”
Chris Wood, who portrayed villain Kai Parker in “The Vampire Diaries” Season 6, has been cast in “Containment” as a police officer named Jake. Meanwhile, Aussie actress Claudia Black, who portrayed villain Aunt Dahlia in “The Originals” Season 2, is set to portray the “Containment” character named Sabine Lommers.
If “Containment” gets renewed for a second season, Plec thinks the viewers can handle a 16-episode season broken down into two parts. However, Plec admitted that she is still open to anything as long as she still has the time and desire to do the project.
Plec revealed that she is trying to equally balance her time at the moment by splitting her work shifts on a week-to-week basis because of the ongoing production on “Containment,” “The Vampire Diaries” Season 7 and “The Originals” Season 3. The new seasons of “The Vampire Diaries” and “The Originals” are scheduled to premiere on Thursday night, Oct. 8, at 8/7c and 9/8c, respectively, while “Containment” will premiere in 2016 on the CW Network.
