Despite the clamour for a more romantic and lighter ending, "Allegiant" will end its blockbuster franchise with a plotline that is the same as the book. Lead actress Shailene Woodley herself believes that it is a good thing that the film will stay true to the story as written by Veronica Roth because it reflects the reality of life.

Spoiler alert! This article contains "Allegiant" spoilers.

"I think that it's a beautiful decision that Veronica made. I mean, how often is it that somebody you really admire and who does take selfless risks every day ends up living?" said the actress, who plays the Divergent "Tris," in an interview with Digital Spy. Her co-star, Theo James, who portrays "Four" added in the same interview that Woodley's character is defined by self-sacrifice and that it would be strange if both his character and hers end up with a happy-ever-after at the close.

In separate interview with Vulture, the author herself said that she knows the fans are so passionate about getting an alternate ending. In the book, Tris dies after she fails to pass all five tests in The Box, which only 100 percent divergents are able to do. Tris is a divergent herself, but her traits and abilities are a combination of just three factions. Roth said she ended "Allegiant" in a way she felt it needed to end.

"I wrote Allegiant that way because I thought that was the way it needed to be told, and so I feel very strongly about it, obviously. I know people feel strongly about it, too, and that's fine," Roth said in response to the Change.org petition that some fans set up, calling for another ending. Another fan, Stephanie Ziel, even created a new ending for the book in her blog, wherein Tris actually lives, suffers complete memory loss before eventually getting back to normal after being kissed by Four.

"Allegiant" is the third book in the dystopian young-adult "Divergent" trilogy and part one is reportedly already wrapping up filming in Atlanta, Georgia. Atlanta Magazine writes that, so far, the production team has been spotted shooting at Jimmy Carter Boulevard, near the old Georgia Archives Building, the High Museum of Art and Buckhead, where the base camp is set up. "Divergent: Allegiant Part 1" will be out in theatres on March 18, 2016.
