Born on Dec. 8, 1953 in Georgia, Academy Award winner Kim Basinger recently turned 62. Aside from her award-winning performance in the 1997 film “L.A. Confidential,” she is also known for playing Eminem’s mother in “8 Mile” in 2002.

Winning an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for portraying a prostitute in “L.A. Confidential” was a pivotal point in Basinger’s career. Prior to the period cop drama film, she appeared nude in the Playboy magazine and played a Bond girl in “Never Say Never Again.”

In “8 Mile,” Basinger played Stephanie, the mother of B-Rabbit (Eminem) and Lily (Chloe Greenfield) and the girlfriend of Greg Buehl (Michael Shannon). She was almost 49 years old when the film directed by Curtis Hanson was released on Nov. 8, 2002, and at the time, Eminem just turned 30.

Basinger has yet to win her second Academy Award but 13 years after the release of “8 Mile,” she is still working regularly as an actress. The last film she starred in was the drama film “The 11th Hour,” which was released on June 12.

Written and directed by Anders Morgenthaler, “The 11th Hour” starred Basinger opposite Jordan Prentice and Sebastian Schipper. In the film, Basinger played a successful businesswoman who has achieved everything except a baby of her own.

In real life, Basinger has one daughter with her former husband Alec Baldwin, who is Ireland Baldwin. She and Alec got married in 1993 but divorced in 2002.

In 2016, Basinger is set to star in Shane Black’s crime film “The Nice Guys” opposite Russell Crowe, Matt Bomer and Ryan Gosling. This will be the first time Basinger and Crowe co-star in a film since “L.A. Confidential,” according to Seattle Pi.

In other news, Crowe recently reunited with his “Les Miserables” co-actor Hugh Jackman. The two Australian actors performed a rendition of their duet “The Confrontation” onstage in Sydney on Dec. 2, People reports.
