Eminem’s protégé 50 Cent drops ‘The Kanan Tape’ mixtape
Curtis James Jackson III, who is professionally known as 50 Cent, is set to release his sixth studio album entitled “Street King Immortal.” Prior to the release of the album, Eminem’s protégé will drop a new mixtape.
Entitled “The Kanan Tape,” 50 Cent’s new mixtape has seven tracks including “On Everything,” “Burner on Me,” “I’m the Man” and “Body Bags.” It is set to be released on Dec. 9, Wednesday, according to Dat Piff.
“The Kanan Tape” release date was originally set on Thanksgiving but was pushed back to Christmas season, according to Entertainment Weekly. The mixtape was based on 50 Cent’s character on the Starz TV series, “Power.”
Created by Courtney Kemp Agboh and produced by 50 Cent, “Power” premiered on June 5, 2014. Its second season aired from June 6 to Aug. 15 and its third season is set to resume in 2016.
50 Cent plays a recurring role named Kanan in “Power.” The character is a powerful drug lord who spent years in prison due to a sketchy drug charge.
Along with major drug trafficker Felipe Loboz (Enrique Murciano), 50 Cent’s character serves as one of the two main antagonists in “Power.” Also, Kanan used to be the boss of James “Ghost” St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick).
50 Cent is set to reprise his role in season 3. The first episode of the upcoming season entitled “Call Me James” is expected to air on June 2016.
On the big screen, the most recent film 50 Cent starred in was Antoine Fuqua’s “Southpaw,” which starred Jake Gyllenhaal and Rachel McAdams. 50 Cent’s mentor, Eminem, is the executive producer of the soundtrack of the boxing film.
“Street King Immortal” is set to be released in 2016. His fifth studio album entitled “Animal Ambition: An Untamed Desire to Win” was released on June 3, 2014.
