“Empire” season 2 executive producers Danny Strong, Lee Daniels and Ilene Chaiken recently shared an inside look at the Fox hit series. The sophomore season of the scripted TV series that earned Taraji P. Henson a Primetime Emmy Awards nomination is set to premiere on Sept. 23.

A half-hour special titled “Empire Season 2: Game On” will discuss the Fox hit series’ ratings success, critical acclaim, impact on the music industry and social media following. Along with the casting director music producers, Strong, Daniels and Chaiken will give fans what they can look forward to in the upcoming season.

In “Empire Season 2: Game On,” Henson and her co-actors Terrence Howard and Grace Healey will also share some “Empire” season 2 spoilers involving their characters Cookie Lyon, Lucious Lyon and Anika Calhoun. Their co-stars Bryshere Y. Gray, Jussie Smollett, Trai Byers, Kaitlin Doubleday, Ta’Rhona Jones and Gabourey Sidibe are all set to reprise their roles in season 2.

Their co-nominees who are not African American are “Homeland” actress Claire Danes, “Orphan Black” actress Tatiana Maslany, “Mad Men” actress Elisabeth Moss and “House of Cards” actress Robin Wright.

It was in 2001 when Henson got her breakout role in the drama comedy “Baby Boy,” which was written and directed by John Singleton. Among others, the film also stars Paul Walker’s “Furious 7” co-actor Tyrese Gibson, “Extant” actor Omar Gooding and “Girls Club” and “Scrubs” alum AlexSandra Wright, and Snoop Dogg, who also appeared in “Empire” season 1 episode 11.
