Zayn Malik reportedly left One Direction to live a normal life away from the spotlight and eyes of the paparazzi. However, his rumoured career goal of being a movie star reportedly still puts him under media radar, especially now that he’s supposedly already in talks with a director to star in a Hollywood film.

“Bend It Like Beckham” director Gurinder Chadha told Mirror UK that she has already met and spoken to Zayn Malik about a possible career in the movie industry. The 55-year-old said she’s already in talks with the former One Direction singer but didn’t reveal any details. The director’s discussion with Malik reportedly happened after Zayn’s friend and fellow singer Ed Sheeran agreed to be featured in a Bollywood film. “He trained as an actor first then became part of the band,” she revealed.

Gurinder Chadha also mentioned Zayn Malik’s turn towards a Hollywood movie career during the Asian Awards on Friday, April 17. “I don’t have a part in mind for Zayn just yet but hopefully in the future,” she said. Malik and Naughty Boy were also present during the said event.

Zayn Malik’s interest to start a movie career is not really the solution to what Heat World called as his quest to being a “normal 22-year-old.” However, Chadha told Mirror UK that she respects the singer’s decision since it’s what he personally wants. “So I think what he’ll be doing is staying true to his heart – and that’s all you can ever do,” she said.

One Direction film director Morgan Spurlock also shared Gurinder Chadha’s sentiments about Zayn Malik’s decision to go solo. Morgan considered Malik as the “most talented” 1D singer. She also praised Zayn for chasing his dream of becoming a movie star in the midst of him being famous and despite his success in the music industry. Spurlock said no one should find any fault in that.

Whether Zayn Malik has finally decided to venture into Hollywood as a movie actor is still uncertain. He has yet to personally comment on the reports about his planned acting career. The singer’s last post on his Twitter feed on Monday was a dedication to his fans, thanking them for their undying support.
