“Friends” reunion will “never happen.” Killing hopes of fans worldwide, series creators David Crane and Marta Kauffman ruled out the possibility that Jennifer Aniston, Matthew Perry, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer and Courteney Cox would be reprising their roles for another bout of “Friends” show.

Even 12 years after the US sitcom ended in 2004, there’s still a huge demand for the guys to do even just one episode of the series, preferably a reunion episode where viewers would get to see what Rachel and Ross (Aniston and Schwimmer), Monica and Chandler (Cox and Perry), Joey (LeBlanc) and Phoebe (Kudrow) and her husband Mike (Paul Rudd) are up to now. And while the actors themselves have said a reunion episode was improbable, fans still hope that they would find it in their hearts to listen to what viewers want.

Unfortunately, it will never happen.

Kauffman and Crane have put an end to hopes and rumours once and for all. They told the Hollywood Reporter that a “Friends” reunion would be a bad idea.

“It will never happen, but no one tends to believe me. It shouldn’t happen. That show is about a time in your life when your friends are your family. Once you start having a family, that time of your life is over,” Kauffman said.

“We finished the show exactly the way we wanted to finish it. To revisit those characters just seems like a bad idea – you don’t want to see them hanging out in the coffeehouse now. And the good news is, you can see them whenever you want to. The show lives on with amazing vitality,” Crane added.

The top-ranking comedy series ended with Monica and Chandler moving to a residential home with their adopted twins, Ross and Rachel getting back together with the understanding that they would remarry, Phoebe and Mike also starting a family, and Joey, the only one who remained single, moving to Los Angeles to expand his acting career.

In real life, though, the stars have pursued separate projects. Minus Perry, who was rehearsing for a play in London, the five main stars of the show were photographed together at the tribute event for NBC’s James Burrows. Entertainment Weekly has the pictures from the tribute.

LeBlanc was recently announced as the new co-host of “Top Gear” in the UK. He will also be the star of the new US comedy pilot “I’m Not Your Friend.” Cox, who starred in “Cougar Town,” which ended last year, will be in the new show “Charity Case.” Perry’s “Odd Couple” is on its second season, and Kudrow has several films for this year, including “Neighbours 2.”

Aniston, who celebrated her 47th birthday on Thursday, will be in “Mother’s Day,” a romantic comedy flick that boasts a stellar cast line-up, including Julia Roberts, Kate Hudson and Hillary Duff.
