‘Game of Thrones’ Season 6 spoilers: Brienne of Tarth’s admiration for Jaime vs. her loyalty towards Sansa worry fans [VIDEO]
HBO recently released the preview for “Game of Thrones” Season 6, episode 8, titled “No One.” Fans believe that this episode will be the most explosive of all the episodes in Season 6 so far.
However, they are worried about a rift between Jaime Lannnister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie) as they both find themselves on the wrong end of their swords. Fans, over the seasons, have come to admire the “sweet” relationship that the two developed where both had only admiration for each other despite a tumultuous start, back in Season 2.
[Spoiler Alert] Catelyn Stark (Michelle Fairley) tasked Brienne to take a captive Jaime back to King’s Landing in exchange for her daughters. This started a relationship and by the time the two reached King’s Landing, both were on good terms. Jaime even gifted his Valyrian steel blade to Brienne. Their mutual emotions were evident.
This sweet relationship may take a serious blow as suggested by the latest Season 6, Episode 8 preview. Riverrun has been taken by Brynden Tully (Clive Russell) aka the Blackfish. The Freys have sent men to recapture Riverrun. Jaime and Bronn (Jerome Flynn) are calling the shots to defeat Blackfish. However, Brienne has been sent to Riverrun by Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) to ask for help from Brynden Tully to take back North from Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon). Thus, Brinne will find herself in a difficult situation dealing with Blackfish and Jaime.
“Should I fail to persuade the Blackfish to surrender and if you attack the castle, honour compels me to fight you,” Brienne tells Jaime in the preview.
Jaime will have to take a call. Like Brienne, he will face Brienne as he loves Cersei and wants to get back to King’s Landing to be with her.
“I love Cersei and if I have to slaughter every Tully who ever lived to get back to her, that’s what I will do,” Jaime is heard saying.
Thus, a Jaime-Brienne fight looms in the horizon, much to the dismay of “Game of Thrones” fans. If they fight, that would bring back “bad” memories from the past where Jon Snow (Kit Harington) was compelled to fight the Wildings to defend Castle Black, and Ygritte (Rose Leslie) was a Wildling. She ultimately lost her life but breathed her last in Jon’s arms. Will there be a repeat? Will Brienne die?
