Grigor Dimitrov has failed to defend his title at the 2015 Aegon Championships held at Queen’s Club in London. Dimitrov was ousted in the second round 6-4 7-6 by Luxembourger 48th-ranked Gilles Muller.

“It’s a tough loss for me,” the sixth-seeded Dimitrov said after the match via Yahoo Sports. “It’s never easy when you lose your title but that’s part of the game.”

Dimitrov said his early exit at Queen’s will give him more time to prepare for the upcoming grand slam tournament at Wimbledon. The Bulgarian’s best result at the All England Club came last year when he reached the last four before losing to ensuing winner Novak Djokovic.

Dimitrov is not the only seeded player who bid farewell to the Aegon Championhips. The highest-seeded player eliminated at Queen’s was Stan Wawrinka, who just claimed his second grand slam title in his career at the French Open. Wawrinka was defeated by South African player Kevin Anderson in straight sets 7-6 7-6. Reigning US Open champion Marin Cilic, seeded fourth, fell to the hands of Viktor Troicki 6-7 6-2 6-3. Cilic was the 2012 Aegon champion.

Top seed Andy Murray has advanced in the last eight after easing past Fernando Verdasco 7-5 6-4. Murray is playing in his bid to win his fourth Aegon title. He will play against Muller in the quarterfinals.

Canada’s Milos Raonic will play Gilles Simon, who beat wild card Thanasa Kokkinakis 6-4 6-2, to move on to the next round.

The 2015 Aegon Championships is the 112th edition of the tournament. It is part of the Association of Tennis Professionals World Tour 500 tournaments. Past champions of the tournament include tennis greats such as John McEnroe, Boris Becker, Jimmy Connoers, Ivan Lendl, and Pete Sampras.
