For Grigor Dimitrov, asking out one of the most successful and beautiful tennis star on women’s tour on a date should be easy. All Dimitrov has to do is ask.

Dimitrov talked about how he got into a relationship with Sharapova alongside several other topics in an exclusive interview with The Telegraph’s Joe Shute. Since it is almost impossible to get one-on-one time with Sharapova because both of them were on tour and travelling the world, Dimitrov thought that asking Sharapova out via email was a viable option and it certainly worked for the Bulgarian tennis star.

“I emailed her out of the blue,” Dimitrov revealed. “I felt we always had this thing for each other.”

According to Dimitrov, they were both in China when he saw her in one of her matches. He thought to send her an email right away. After their first interaction through the Internet, they met when the season was over and the rest was history.

Dimitrov revealed he and Sharapova aren’t different from other couple. He said that they practically do what any other couple does, which include taking a stroll, shopping and eating out. While many people would think that Sharapova is way out of Dimitrov’s league, the Bulgarian said that he thinks otherwise. He said that he looks at the Russian tennis darling differently and unlike what people often perceive her to be.

“It’s about the person and how they are with me,” Dimitrov further chanted. “She’s the greatest competitor that is still playing the game but that stops right there for me because I feel I’m a much deeper person than all that.”

Dimitrov and Sharapova have been together for three years now. She is four years his senior.

Dimitrov, who retained his world ranking at the 11th place, last played in the claycourt season climax tournament at Roland Garros. He was eliminated in the first round after losing to American Jack Sock 7-6 6-2 6-3. As stated on his website, Dimitrov will play next at the Aegon Championships at Queen’s Club, where he is the reigning champion. The tournament kicks off on June 15, 2015.
