We all know that Kobe Bryant is one of the star players of Los Angeles Lakers. Bryant is definitely one of the players in the professional basketball league who scores big time. However, on the opening game of the 2013-2014 NBA season on Tuesday evening, it has been reported that Bryant will not be able to play. We wonder what Lakers' fans would feel about this.

According to the grapevine, Bryant is not going to play because he is still recovering for his Achilles heel surgery. The Lakers' shooting guard underwent a surgery in April. The surgery was performed to repair a ripped tend on his left heel. The tear was pretty bad. The scar was more than 5 inches high, from the back of the heel up. Bryant has to be careful. If he plays too hard or trains too much, he may end up with a partial tear.

"Injuries to your lower extremities could lead to something else," Kobe said, "This injury is really different, it is really not about being 100 percent, it is just about making sure that you are running with the appropriate pace and you are not putting too much pressure on other things that can cause problems along the way," Kobe said.

Bryant's fellow teammate Mike D'Antoni confirmed the not-so-good news about Kobe not playing in opening night. D'Antoni was questioned the Lakers won over the Utah Jazz in one of the pre-season games. "No," said Mike. "I mean, my God, I know Kobe is Superman, but he has not been able to run yet," Mike added.

"Kobe is definitely making progress so he will be back soon," Mike said. "There is really no need to worry about it, it should not be a problem," Mike added. "It is only a problem when people don't work hard enough and don't do what they are supposed to be doing," said Mike.

While waiting for Bryant to get back in his old playing condition, Lakers can count on its other superstar players, in the meantime. There is Pau Gasol, who was the Lakers' top scorer all throughout the exhibition season. Other players such as Nick Young, Xavier Henry, Jordan Farmar and Chris Kaman can also be counted upon.

We hope that Kobe get to play for the NBA really soon.
