'Pirates of the Caribbean 5' to be a reboot with new lead characters
“Pirates of the Caribbean 5” will reportedly be a reboot that will introduce new younger characters, who will play a more important role going forward. This may also be the last movie in which Johnny Depp will be reprising his role as the infamous Captain Jack Sparrow.
Earlier reports had suggested that the producers planned to film two movies of the franchise back to back. That however did not happen. Now, Chattsportsnet states that there are rumours indicating that another movie from the franchise may not happen in the near future, and that this may be the last movie in which Depp will be reprising his role.
So, the new characters Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario) and Henry (Brenton Thwaites) may play a big role if the next movie in the franchise is approved. Henry is Will Turner’s (Orlando Bloom) son, and his mission in the movie is expected to be a reunion with his father, who now commands Davy Jones’ ship. Carina is an astronomer and is expected to be Henry’s love interest in the movie.
“Pirates of the Caribbean 5” has been in the news for a lot of wrong reasons. The movie was reported to have overshot its budget. Then there was Depp’s injury in Australia, which may have added to some delay. And there was the controversy about Depp’s now estranged wife failing to declare her dogs to Aussie customs officials.
Despite all the negative news, Depp did not fail to impress the fans while he was in Australia. He frequently met with fans in full costume.
A confirmation of “Pirates of the Caribbean 5” being a reboot came from Bloom way back in 2014. The actor had said at that time that Disney was trying to reboot the franchise by telling the story of the relationship between Will Turner and his son.
