Despite being a controversial player for the New York Yankees, A. Rod still got his back covered by the team. The team's general manager, Brian Cashman claimed that A. Rod can expect support from the team as long as he is fit. This means that he would remain in lineup even with a pending case.

According to Cashman, "If he's healthy, he's definitely going to be, by far, better than what we've been running out there.

For twice in a week, Rodriguez was included in the team and played against the Chicago White Sox. All was not business as usual, however.

Instead of being at third base, he was designated as the hitter by the team manager, Joe Girardi.

The crowd was angry at him too. He received jeers every time he went to the plate. In the third inning, A. Rod was also hit by a pitch from Chris Sale, which was cheered on by the fans for Chicago White Sox.

Even though the Yankees lost, Rodriguez received kind words and sympathy from closer Mariano Rivera. Rivera is playing his last season for the Yankees and he got nothing bad to say about the controversial player. "Alex is my friend and definitely it's hard when you see all this stuff and when you see the fans booing a player, because I'm a player," Rivera put forward. He also added, "It's hard, but it is what it is. At the same time, he's a human being. Seeing the way they boo him is kind of hard to take and to see."

Rodriguez was suspended by MLB on Monday along with other 11 players, but he was the only one who set out to appeal the decision. His punishment was also the heaviest, him lying to the investigators making the situation worse.
