While doing press rounds for his film “In the Heart of the Sea,” Tom Holland was asked to talk about his version of Peter Parker in the “Spider-Man” reboot. The actor hinted that the movie will have a John Hughes' comedy vibe to it.

In his interview with The Daily Beast about the “Spider-Man” reboot, Holland said the movie will not be inspired by “The Dark Knight.” Instead, it will be a John Hughes version of the Spider-Man.

“Peter Parker is a favourite of many because everyone can relate to him, and we’re going to try to make everyone relate to our Peter Parker. And John Hughes is a perfect example of what we’re going to try and do,” he said.

The young star likewise mentioned how the “Spider-Man” reboot will be “the biggest independent film ever.” Although Holland didn’t reveal any film spoilers, he said that the still untitled reboot will contain “incredible things.”

Holland only confirmed what screenwriters John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein had said about the reboot. In a previous interview, the writers also highly mentioned the John Hughes inspiration for the film. They said Peter Parker’s high school story as the Spider-Man will be approached with the same comedy and humour seen in Hughes’ classic hit films, including “Home Alone” and “Weird Science.” The movie will reportedly still have its trademark humour just like in the “Spider-Man” comics.

In a recent interview, Holland also talked about his take of the Spider-Man. The 19-year-old admitted that he will “steal” some of Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire’s versions of the web crawler. However, he added that there will be a special path that he and movie director Jon Watts have agreed to take on with regards to Peter Parker’s background story.

Holland will debut his version of the Spider-Man in the 2016 film “Captain America: Civil War.” It’s been reported that he will only have a cameo in the film. However, fans have yet to see the actor in character since he was not featured in the trailer released for the sequel.

Holland will lead the “Spider-Man” reboot on July 28, 2017.
