A new report suggests that apart from the official filming locations of “Star Wars: The Force awakens,” there is one location where some of the scenes in the movie were filmed. The franchise is known to feature new alien planets and there will be at least one new planet that the fans of the franchise will be introduced to in the upcoming movie.

The Hang En cave in Vietnam is said to be the world’s third largest. According to a report by Gizmodo, the cave has been used as a set for filming several upcoming fantasy films including Hugh Jackman starrer “Pan.” The report hints that the location was also used for the upcoming “Star Wars” movie with a cryptic message that says that “the force” compels them not to disclose this information.

The cave apparently has many “rooms” that are “330 feet high and span 600 feet across.” The cave is also supposedly home to “millions of birds.” Readers should note that none of the previously leaked images from the sets or reports about “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” mention scenes being filmed at this location. There has also been no official confirmation from the producers that the location was used to film any of the scenes in the movie.

Filming in new and alien looking locations is not new for the franchise. Some of the scenes in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” have been filmed at Skellig Michael in Ireland. The island is home to Monastic settlements and is of particular importance for religious and archeological studies. The island is also protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

At the “Star Wars” Celebrations event, Daisy Ridley revealed that the desert planet seen in the trailers is called “Jakku.” Her character, Rey, lives on the planet until she encounters another character in the movie. Many fans of the franchise had assumed that the desert planet was Tatooine, which is the home of two most prominent characters in the franchise – Luke Skywalker and Anakin Skywalker.

More details about the planets and the characters featuring in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” is expected to be shared by the producers closer to the release date of the movie. The movie is slated to be released in December 2015.
