VTech VS150 TWIN DECT6.0 Cordless Phone with VSmart Wire-Free Home Monitoring VTech

As we all celebrate “Back to the Future Day” on Oct. 21, VTech launches the world’s first home phone integrated with a monitoring system that boosts security in the smart connected homes of tomorrow.

The new VTech VS150 with its home monitoring capabilities uses contact sensors that enable users to always remain on the alert. The sensors use Ultra Low Energy (ULE) technology that allows the device run on non-rechargeable batteries.

Once activated, the sensors provide tailored internal alarms to the base of the phone and the handset. The VSmart Wire-Free sensor system is easy to install and no expensive wiring is required. The VS150 also notifies the user when the device runs low on battery power, reports The Chronicle.

The phone can call up three external numbers to notify the owner, who can also talk to the intruder should he want to. The handset also includes hands-free speakerphone, a digital answering machine and call guard that helps block unwanted calls. It’s affordable and can send alerts to the owner’s mobile phone.

“Being a tech savvy nation, Australia has a fascination with the smart homes of tomorrow,” said Mark Franklin, Managing Director of VTech Telecommunications Australia.

The VS150 twin DECT6.0 cordless phone comes packed with two contact sensors that notify the user if anything is open or closed in their absence. Additionally, a motion sensor and garage door sensor are available for purchase separately.

“The VS150 is unique, affordable and innovative and the really interesting part is that users are able to remotely interact with the home once the alarm has triggered. This could be as critical as alerting intruders that the police are coming or as practical as letting the kids know you’re aware they are home when they should be at school,” added Franklin in a press note.

Starting this week, major retailers across Australia (including JB Hi Fi and Harvey Norman) will starting selling the VTech VS150. The device costs AU$249.
