It's been more than a year since Xiaomi launched the Mi 4, and now the Chinese OEM is all set to refresh its lineup at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016 in Barcelona. This has prompted much speculation about their new device, but a new benchmark from GFXBench suggests the new Xiaomi Mi 5 could come in a super-sized version.

According to the latest GFXBench listing, the purported successor of the Mi 4, the Xiaomi Mi 5, will feature a 5.7-inch display with 1,920 x 1,080 pixels resolution. This means the new handset will not get display enhancements - a move away from earlier speculations saying the Mi 5 was expected to sport a 5.2-inch QHD (1,440 x 2,560 pixels) display.

Quad HD display resolution increases power consumption to a considerable extent, reports WCCF Tech.

The benchmark databases also note that the Xiaomi Mi 5 will be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset clocking at 2.1GHz with Adreno 530 GPU for graphics and 3GB of RAM. Liwan Jiang, co-founder and senior VP of Xiaomi, had previously confirmed that the device would run on Qualcomm’s latest chipset.

The GFXBench also listed the flagship with Android Marshmallow OS onboard.

Other expected Xiaomi Mi 5 specs include a 2.5D curved glass protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 4, massive 3,600 mAh battery supported by Quick Charge 3.0 technology and a fingerprint scanner for authentication.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 will allegedly house the smallest and fastest fingerprint scanner in the world. The smartphone is also expected to be shipped with support for NFC (Near Field Communication).

Xiaomi could be released with a Windows 10 variant, if a report by GizmoChina is to be believed. Last July, Xiaomi had partnered with Microsoft to roll out Windows 10 ROM for Mi 4 users.

The experimental program was launched to test the operating system on Xiaomi hardware. Recently, the company also launched a Windows 10 variant of the Mi Pad 2 in China.
