10 Australian Actors/Actresses who Made it Big in Hollywood [PHOTOS]
It is hard to make it in Hollywood, and it even more so those who aren't natives of the United States. But with the fast evolving world of show business, some people may not know that a number of Hollywood's big names are from the Land Down Under.
Nicole Kidman - When it comes to Hollywood's and Australia's best actors, the name Nicole Kidman would always top the list. She has done so many movies so far that would be hard to tell which one would be her best piece yet. A few that made a big impression would be "Moulin Rouge" and "Australia."
Heath Ledger - The late actor who became famous for his work in "The Dark Knight" and "Brokeback Mountain" is still considered one of the best actors not only for his generation.
Hugh Jackman - Most famous for his roles as "Wolverine," Jackman continues to make blockbuster movies one after the other. He also stars alongside Kidman in the movie "Australia."
Mel Gibson - He has been in many great movies but he made it big with his role in "Braveheart." He is also a director and made the movie "The Passion of the Christ."
Russell Crowe - Crowe as an actor is versatile. From "Gladiator" to "A Beautiful Mind," the actor that he is shifts from an epic sword fighting action to a heartfelt drama. That's why he's considered one of the many great actors today.
Cate Blanchette - Like Nicole Kidman, there is a list of movies that shows Blanchette's brilliance as an actress. Her most famous movies include "Lord of the Rings" and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button."
Rod Taylor - He was considered a big success in his movie "The Birds" and in late 2000, he made an appearance in "Inglourious Basterds."
Guy Pearce - He made his mark in the movie "Memento" and recently in "The Hurt Locker." With his acting skills, he has a long career ahead.
Sam Worthington - He may be known for his role in "Terminator Salvation" and not to forget the successfully acclaimed "Avatar." The actor's versatility in his craft allows him to venture into drama, action or comedy.
Rose Byrnes - She has been nominated for "Best Supporting Actress" in the Emmy's and Golden Globes for "Damages." She also did a great job with her role in "Wicker Park" together with actors Josh Hartnett and Diane Kruger.
