11 Year Old Girl from Britain has Higher IQ than Einstein, Wants to be Governor of Bank of England [Video]
An 11 Year Old from Britain, Cerys Cooksammy- Parnel took the Mensa IQ test and scored the highest 162 on the Cattell B scale. She took up the challenge after her father, 45 year old Dean, who is a lawyer. She aspires to be the governor of the Bank of England, reports the Wall St Journal
Cerys wanted to break her father's score of 145 but ended up getting the maximum 162. This has made her rank higher than the intellectual giants Stephen Hawking and Albert Einstein. Although she aspires to be the governor of The Bank of England, she is in no hurry to apply for the job just as yet. She says she is going to focus on having fun and getting good grades for now.
The Bank of England was in the news recently for removing the only woman on the currency notes in circulation but then decided to put the face of Jane Austen on the new 10 pound notes, bowing to the public pressure. The Bank in its 300 years of existence has never had a female governor. In fact in the past 16 years only four of the 33 members of Bank of England's monetary policy committee have been women.
The situation seems a little better in the U.S where Janet Yellen could be the taking over Ben Bernanke's job as the next chairman of the Federal Reserve.
IQ test stands for "Intelligence quotient" comprises of a set of questions which are designed to assess the intelligence of the person taking the test. The test however does not assess the potential of the individual and some even consider it unreliable. This however has not stopped many organizations and business entities to make use of the IQ test for varied reasons from hiring to promotions.
Most organizations or Web sites that offer the IQ test tend to qualify it by saying that they are for entertainment purposes.
Cerys, perhaps realizes this and does not place undue importance on the IQ test results. The test "can't really judge someone on their potential" she said.
