The Golden State Warriors defeated the Denver Nuggets, 118-105 on Sunday (Monday in Australia) to match the longest winning streak to start an NBA season.

The Warriors improved to 15-0 for the 2015-2016 NBA Season and has a chance to establish a new mark when they face the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday.

Stephen Curry was held to 19 points, his lowest scoring output of the year but five Warriors ended up in double-figure scoring and all 12 Golden State players scored at least four points. Klay Thompson led the way for Golden State with 21 points on 4-of-7 shooting from behind the arc and added 7 assists while Harrison Barnes had 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting.

Australian centre Andrew Bogut started the game well and finished with 8 points, 6 rebounds and 3 blocked shots in just 18 minutes of play. Draymond Green and Andre Iguodala added 13 and 12 points, respectively.

The Warriors stormed to a 34-23 first quarter lead thanks to baskets from Iguodala and Green late in the opening quarter. The Nuggets did not want to be blown out at home and fired a 35-30 second quarter to cut down the Warriors lead to 64-59 at halftime.

Curry scored all Warriors’ eight points in the first three minutes of the third and Golden State pushed the lead back to double-digits, 91-79 entering the final quarter.

The Warriors were never seriously threatened in the fourth quarter cruised to their 15th straight victory matching the 15-0 starts of the Washington Capitols (1948-1949) and Houston Rockets (1993-1994).

All five Nuggets’ starters finished in double-figure scoring led Darrell Arthur, who had 21 points and Danilo Gallinari, who had 19 points. The Nuggets have suffered their third consecutive loss and will face the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday. The Warriors will face the Lakers, Phoenix Suns and Sacramento Kings in their next three games.
