17-Year-Old With Down Syndrome Wins Herself A Modeling Gig, A Heart-Melting Story
Dreams do come true especially for 17-year-old Karrie Brown who may have Down Syndrome but recently fulfilled her dreams of becoming a model for Wet Seal. With the help of her own mum and the power of social media, the teen was able to land a modelling gig for her all-time favourite fashion brand.
Karrie The 'Biker Chick' Brown
The teenager described her own sense of fashion as "biker chick" which got the attention of the mentioned retailer in August, according to New York Daily News. This was also pushed through the online campaign that her mum started which was called "Karried Away." Karrie's mum, Sue Brown, posted her teenage daughter's photo on the Facebook page daily. It eventually convinced and urged Wet Seal to give Karrie a shot at her dreams of modelling.
Her Facebook page, 'Karrie Brown - Modeling The Future' has achieved 20,568 likes and some of her pictures, especially the one below, got more than 200 likes, according to Daily Mail UK.
During the photo shoot, Mrs Brown said that her daughter was hilarious and she even thought that she will get upset not knowing what to do. And then Karrie requested for some Justin Bieber music, and she simply was on her way to doing it like any professional would do.
"So they played some Justin Bieber and she just took off," Mrs Brown said.
Karrie received the perks of a genuine VIP model with having to enjoy a shopping spree at the store of the retailer, time spent with styling experts, and of course, a Disneyland trip. According to Wet Seal, it was Karrie's level of 'enthusiasm and passion for fashion' that convinced them to give her a slot.
Future Plans
ABC News reports that the photo shoot is set to be featured on the official Web site of Wet Seal and its other social channels in the weeks to come. Mrs Brown said that the most exciting thing that made Karrie happy is getting the chance to see her sister too who is LA-based.
The next goals of the loving mum for her talented daughter include getting her teen be featured to dance on national television, particularly the Ellen DeGeneres show.
