Based on the report done by comScore last quarter, Android has been consistent in being the number one OS for mobile users and the figures also showed consistent growth. Many experts believe that the "open-source" approach that Android has is the main reason on why Android is the top choice for users. These experts also predict that Android would still continue to grow in the coming years. Despite the success of Android, it could still have a potential contender to claim its throne and this is Apple. Based on the figures revealed through the report, Apple had the "biggest gain" for the past year due to the launch of iPhone 4S. If the rumors regarding Apple's iPhone 5 are true, Android would need to do more in order to retain its number one spot.
