2012 is the year of book-to-film adaptations. "The Hunger Games" may have debuted big at the box office but with more books set to hit an onscreen adaptation, the games may easily be beaten. Here are a few highly-anticipated book-to-film adaptations set to come out this year to the next.

Number one on the list would be Emma Watson's first ever post-Potter film that is out of her Hermione Granger characteristic, "Perks of Being a Wallflower."

The film is based on the widely popular novel by Stephen Chbosky which is the story of a socially awkward teenager thrust into the world of high school where he meets unlikely friends and forms a special bond with them. Apart from Emma Watson, the film cast includes Logan Lerman and Patrick Ezra Miller.

Another rumored film set to star Selena Gomez would be based on the popular book by Jay Asher, "13 Reasons Why". The story revolves around 13 tapes sent out to 13 different people with the reasons as to why the female protagonist had committed suicide. No word as to who would be cast alongside Selena Gomez but this is one film fans of Gomez should not dare miss.

Alongside the likes of "The Hunger Games" and "Percy Jackson" is another novel set to hit the big screen, "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones." Filming for the said movie has already begun and it stars Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower.

Stephanie Meyer may be done with "Twilight" but the author is set out to work on another film adaptation with her other novel, "The Host." The teaser trailer had already been released at the beginning of the year and it stars Saoirse Ronan.

The famous novel by Edgar Allan Poe, "The Raven", has also been made into a film of the same title. "The Raven" stars John Cusack and Alice Eve. Warning to the faint of heart, the film involves a lot of gruesome and jumpy scenes enough to summarize the life of the dark-minded writer, Poe.

Of course, what would movies be without the book classics made out from them? The latest films based on the best-selling classics would be "Anna Karenina" and "Les Miserables" which stars Keira Knightley and Anne Hathaway respectively. Another classic made into film is "The Great Gatsby" which stars Carey Anne Mulligan and Leonardo Di Caprio.

J.R.R. Tolkien's other best-selling novel "The Hobbit" is also set for another film release. Kristen Stewart fans also have another "tramp-like" film to watch out for which is "On the Road" based entirely on Jack Kerouac's best-selling beat novel.
