After a horrible 4-1 defeat against city rivals Manchester City FC, Manchester United FC will be looking to bounce back and redeem itself in the Capital One Cup against league rivals Liverpool FC.

Star striker Wayne Rooney was severely disappointed of his team's performance and acknowledges the fact that the Red Devils "must improve."

"The way we conceded the goals, one just before half-time and two straight after, is not good enough. We know we have to improve on that, to stop giving these sloppy goals away and capitalise on some of our good play, which I thought there was bits of... it just came too late in the game," Rooney told manutd.com.

United will be missing the services of several key players such as Rafael, Robin van Persie, Phil Jones, and Darren Fletcher due to injuries.

Meanwhile, Liverpool was on a tear until after their 0-1 defeat on week 5 of the English Premier League against Southhampton FC on Sunday.

The Reds started the League on a three-game winning streak and have drawn their fourth game to tally a total of 10 points.

The Capital One Cup against a competitive United squad will be the perfect venue for Liverpool to get back to their winning ways.

Among good news for the Reds faithful is that Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez is already available for the fixture after serving a 10-match ban.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is pleasead with such development and will assess whether Suarez will start or not.

"He certainly comes back into the squad and we're delighted to have him," Rodgers told liverpoolfc.com.

"It has been a really difficult time for him in terms of not playing games. But I've got to say, how he has prepared himself over the last number of weeks has been fantastic, with his attitude in training and everything."

"He'll travel with us and we'll reflect in the next 24 hours whether he starts or not. Having someone of that quality back into your squad gives everyone a lift."

"Everyone knows the depth of his qualities, and his attitude - he's non-stop in his commitment and I'm sure once he gets back onto the field again he'll show what he has shown since he's been here, which has been top quality."

Philippe Coutinho, Daniel Agger, Aly Cissokho, Sebastian Coates, and Glen Johnson are out with injuries.
