Still smarting from his U.S. Open loss just days ago, Novak Djokovic will try to lead his country, Serbia over Team Canada in the 2013 Davis Cup Semifinals.

The world number will face Vasek Pospisil while compatriot Janko Tipsarevic will take on Milos Raonic, Canada’s top-ranked player at the Belgrade Arena in Belgrade, Serbia.

“It’s not the first time I’ve had just two days to get ready for the Davis Cup after long-haul flights,”
said Djokovic, who was fresh from New York, where he lost the last Grand Slam title of the year to Rafael Nadal, 2-6, 6-3, 4-6, 1-6.

"It's obvious that I'm tired, time zones, jet leg, plus adjustment to the clay, but I feel fine and have a lot of motivation playing for my country.”

The doubles match is scheduled Satruday and if necessary, the reverse singles Sunday when Djokovic is paired with Raonic and Tipsarevic plays Pospisil.

Canada and Serbia have never met in any Davis Cup. This is the farthest a Canadian team has reached in its history while the Serbians have won the event in 2010.

In the other Davis Cup tie, Czech Republic will battle Argentina at the O2 Arena in Prague, Czech Republic. The winner will book a place in the Davis Cup Final set November 2013

Radek Stepanek will play the opening singles against Juan Monaco and No. 5-ranked Tomas Berdych will face Leonardo Mayer. In Saturday’s doubles, Lukas Rosol and Jiri Vesely will face Carlos Berlocq and Horacio Zeballos.

Last year, the Davis Cup celebrated its 100th Final in the championship that saw Czech Republic conquer Spain, 3-2 in Prague.
