Google released a new firmware update for owners of the 2013 Nexus 7 tablet which will fix some wonkiness into the multi-touch functionality and the GPS sensitivity.

Google is now sending an official firmware update to the 2013 ASUS Nexus 7 2 which is designed to address the multi-touch issue on the Android tablet. The new system update from Google has a version number JSS15Q of the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS and specifically released to fix the bugs.

Owners of the Google Nexus 7 2 can get the update via Over-the-Air procedure which is found in the "Settings > About device/tablet > Software updates." It is now rolling out for download and installation.

"As a couple of you have mentioned, there's a new system update that's started rolling out for your Nexus 7s. This update does address the touchscreen issues discussed in this thread. If you're one of the people experiencing touchscreen issues, please let us know how it's going after you've received and installed the update," Paul Wilcox, member of Google's support staff said, quoted by GadgetsNDTV.

Issues on the 2013 Nexus 7

Nexus 7 2 has been reported to suffer from various issues such as erratic performance in the multi-touch functionality on the display. Android Police notes that various users on the Google Product Forum have voiced their complaints regarding the new Nexus 7 in terms of touch responsive and detection which typical during multi-touch actions.

Another issue plaguing the Nexus 7 2 is the GPS function and may be affecting certain tablets in selective timeframe. Some complaints say that the GPS works fine for a certain period of time while some says that the problem occurs in a matter minutes or hours. Owners can enjoy GPS stability once the tablet has been rebooted or by uninstalling the Navigation app or even restoring the device to its default factory settings.

The new update being released by Google addresses both the multi-touch erratic response and GPS instability for the Nexus 7 2 users.
