"The difference between pornography and erotica is lighting." This was according to Gloria Leonard. It is not an easy thing to depict sex artistically in a movie, especially when there is a very thin line determining what is subtle and gross. Zimbio made a list of 2013 movies which depicted sex in the best way possible. Here are some of those.

Blue Is the Warmest Color

Often touted as the most erotic movie ever made, this movie is about the sexual tension between Adéle Exarchopoulos and Léa Seydoux. There is a 7-minute sex scene which has become both controversial and iconic. Both the actresses admitted that they did feel "manipulated" while shooting for the intimate scenes. Real-life lesbian couples scrutinized the "positions" in the film but ended up not being impressed. However, the on-screen depiction impressed quite a lot of people.

The Spectacular Now

This is a story of a shy young girl and a teenage alcoholic. Shailene Woodley and Miles Teller create the on-screen chemistry and end up having sex in a typical adolescent bedroom. The scene is not even close to a graphic one as there is hardly any nudity shown. On the contrary, the end product happens to be extremely intimate.

Spring Breakers

The most revealing sex scene of 2013 is from this movie where Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Benson appeared to get involved in a graphic act after a drug dealer wants to impress them with his guns, clothes and money. However, the girls catch hold of his gun and point it on him. There is hardly any real sex depicted here but the group of three grope one another and make a convincing act.

The Wolf of Wall Street

This movie promoted the objectification of women. Legendary Filmmaker Martin Scorsese made Leonardo DiCaprio throw a pile of cash on Margot Robbie when she refuses to have sex with him.

Lovelace

Linda Lovelace, the later porn star, is depicted in the movie as Amanda Seyfried played her character. The movie throws light on how sex is seen in the media. It shows the emptiness of sexual activities involved in popular media.

Behind the Candelabra

Michael Douglas and Matt Damon in the sex scene is the charm of the movie. The story shows the commitment of the couple along with their thought process. It also asks questions about the truth behind their real feelings.

Her

Many demand that Scarlett Johansson should have an Oscar merely for her voice in this movie. No wonder Joaquin Phoenix is in love with her artificial intelligence. The main attraction of the story is how the relation between a man and a female voice gets sexual in nature.
