The Best Kiss snub for the Twilight couple, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart could be bigger than the “Best Director” snub A-list director and actor Ben Affleck had suffered for Argo at The Oscars 2013.

It could have been five years. Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart could have stood at the awards stage five years in a row and share the best kiss they had won in the last four years until the nominees for 2013 MTV Movie Awards was released on March 6 and the names of the on-and-off lovers were nowhere to be found.

And the biggest question going through everyone’s mind : Why has The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 been passed up for the “Best Kiss” award at the MTV Movie Awards this year.

Being robbed of the Best Kiss award has come as a surprise not only to the millions of Twi-hards - - which reports said would not be able “to recover” from the biggest slap their idols have had following the break-up rumors that emanated from Kristen’s high-profile summer fling last year. The best kiss snub has left critics and news outlets gone frenzy knowing that Robsten could have brought home the popcorn trophy for the Twilight finale.

Page Six, New York Times Post: “what’s with the “Part 2” snub? Well, the fifth and final “Twilight” flick hasn’t had the best awards season…unless you count this year’s Razzies.”

Denise Warner, Entertainment Weekly: “Bella’s first undead lip-lock with Edward? Super hot. And their sex-scene? Even hotter. And how did the fake-out fight scene at the end NOT get recognized. It had everything! Vampire heads were torn off! Matrix-esque martial arts moves were used. Come on, MTV Movie Awards!”

Nicole Eggenberger, Us Weekly: “With 2013 being the last chance for the Twilight stars to kiss onstage -- and after their rockiest time yet as a couple -- many fans are outraged that the couple were denied a nod.”

William Earl, Hollywood Life: “I’m writing this because I can barely speak — I’m that surprised. This is like if Daniel Day Lewis didn’t get nominated for an Oscar for his role in Lincoln. This is like if the NBA had told Michael Jordan in 1998 that he wasn’t allowed to play anymore.”

Kimberly Ripley, Celebs.Gather: “It is indeed a sad day for Breaking Dawn fans. Not only have they witnessed Edward Cullen and Bella Swan on the big screen for the very last time, and celebrated the release of the final chapter of The Twilight Saga on to DVD format--they now must live with the realization that as the 2013 MTV Movie Awards will go on without Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart receiving the award for Best Kiss.”

Perez Hilton: “So, what gives? Did the fans just give up on them? All the movies are out on DVD and suddenly, no one cares about Bella and her vamp Eddie anymore?! At LEAST we thought they would get a nom for Best Kiss and bring home that golden popcorn for the fifth straight year.”

For this year’s MTV Movie Awards, the Twilight franchise has not landed any nomination from the award giving body, except for the “Best Shirtless Performance” for Robert Pattinson’s onscreen rival, Taylor Lautner. Lautner has a big shoe to fill for the category and is in the company of great actors nominated for the award : Christian Bale, The Dark Knight Rises; Daniel Craig, Skyfall; Seth MacFarlane Ted; and Channing Tatum, Magic Mike. Though the 19-year old Lautner, who plays Jacob in the Twilight series, deserves to win the award, he has very slim chances of breaking home the bacon.

But not Kristen and Robert. The onscreen couple has proven that their chemistry has gone bigger than their characters itself in the film, described as “iconic together” as Edward Cullen and Bella Swan.
