Three of the world’s top eight players— Novak Djokovic, David Ferrer and Stanislas Wawrinka already booked a place in the quarterfinals after hacking out separate victories on Sunday. A day later, it's the turn of the other top seeds, including Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Andy Murray to try to join them in the elite eight of the 2014 Australian Open.

Who will advance to the quarters and who will be upset on Monday?

Quick hits for each of the two of the expected “close” matches today:

Grigor Dimitrov (BUL) vs. Roberto Bautista-Agut (SPA) at 1:00 pm AEDT
Match Odds: Dimitrov (1.56) vs. Bautista-Agut (2.44)
Game Handicap: Dimitrov (-2.5) vs. Bautista-Agut (+2.5)

All-time head-to-head (1 meeting): Bautista-Agut leads Dimitrov, 1-0

This is the most unlikely and unpopular pair in the Round of 16, but most probably, the most interesting, considering it is the one expected to be closest and evenly-matched for the day. Still, both players delivered the best upsets so far in the tourney. In the third round, Dimitrov beat 11th seed Milos Raonic from Canada, while Bautista-Agut defeated 27th seed Benoit Paire of France. Bautista-Agut was also the Argentine-killer after beating 5th seed Juan Martin Del Potro in the second round.

Prediction: Bautista-Agut with another upset in five sets, 6-3, 4-6, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (FRA) vs. Roger Federer at 6:00 pm AEDT
Match Odds: Tsonga (2.24) vs. Federer (1.65)
Game Handicap: Tsonga (+1.5) vs. Federer (-1.5)

All-time head-to-head (13 meetings): Federer leads Tsonga 9-4

While Fed has dominated the head-to-head match-up since 2008, Tsonga has recovered in the past few years winning 2 of 3 in this match-up. The last one came in the quarterfinals of the 2013 Roland Garos as the Frenchman won over the Swiss in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3, 6-3.

Curiously, Federer's last win came in quarterfinals of the 2013 Australian Open, which turned out to be a classic five-setter, 7-6 (4), 4-6, 7-6 (4), 3-6, 6-3. Can we expect another long war on Monday in Melbourne?

Prediction: Stick a fork on Federer, he just can’t get it done in the deeper rounds of a major. Especially not against a motivated Tsonga who wins in four sets, 3-6, 7-6 (4), 6-2, 6-3. In the first grand slam of the year expect Federer to once again underperform— because he’s just not the same player anymore.

Day 7 (Sunday, January 19) Results - Fourth Round

T. Berdych (CZE) def. K. Anderson (RSA), 6-2, 6-2, 6-3
