Boxing News - Oscar De La Hoya is a "changed man," seriously! After years of a bitter cold war between Golden Boy Promotions and Top-Rank Boxing, the founder of GBP Promotions wants to end this "status quo" once and for all, as he aims to arrange mega-fights, featuring fighters from each stable.

The Golden Boy, who's currently recovering from drug addiction, wants to put an end in the current dispute between boxing's most influential stables - GBP and Top-Rank. On Thursday, De La Hoya shared his goal on his Twitter account, and it's all about his desire to clear the air between two warring camps.

"My boxing goal for the year is to end the 'cold war,'" stated De La Hoya via Twitter.

For years, Golden Boy Promotions along with Showtime Boxing and Top-Rank with HBO have prevented their fighters from taking on their counterparts from the other stable. This state in boxing have deprived fans to see potentially entertaining fights like Nonito Donaire vs. Abner Mares, Timothy Bradley vs. Amir Khan, and of course, Manny Pacquioa vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr. showdown (though Mayweather has his own promotions, GBP serves as intermediary representative of the fighter).

Balls on Bob Arum's Court

With Golden Boy showing his intention to make peace with Top-Rank and make the real fights happen this year, the ball is certainly on Top-Rank head promoter Bob Arum. Arum, who ironically promoted De La Hoya fights during his prime, will have to make his own move in an attempt to repair relationship with GBP.

In his previous interview, Arum has given harsh opinion on Golden Boy Promotions, and the way they manage their fighters. However, De La Hoya's latest announcement could soften the honcho's firm stance against a possible partnership with the rival company.

Fights to Expect, If Cold War Ends

If Golden Boy is really true to his words and Arum makes the necessary moves to get things going, boxing fans will surely be spoiled with high-quality fights that would surely energise the boxing world.

Though both camps have elite fighters in various divisions, the focus will be on the jr. welterweight and welterweight division where names like Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather, Danny Garcia, Adrian Broner, Juan Manuel Marquez, Tim Bradley, and Ruslan Provodnikov are the top-drawers.

As Boxing looks to bounce back from his dark age, Golden Boy certainly gives every die-hard boxing fans hope of a brighter future in such a brutal but intriguing sport.
