2014 Golden Globe Awards: 'Breaking Bad' is Breaking Loose, ‘Yeah, B****!’ Yells Aaron Paul
The 71st Golden Globe Awards started with a red carpet event where stars from Tinseltown had their red carpet moment with their adoring fans to showcase the glittering fashion of today's Hollywood elite.
Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are returning for the second year in row as hosts for the 2014 Golden Globe Awards and they couldn't be happier. "We are hosting the Golden Globes for our second time, because this is Hollywood and if something works they'll keep doing it until everyone hates it," quipped Fey.
Yet, the biggest moment is TV's big winner is AMC's "Breaking Bad" for Best TV Drama, beating today's popular TV series including Showtime's "Master of Sex," Netflix "House of Cards," PBS' "Downtown Abbey," and CBS' "The Good Wife." Last year's winner Showtime's "Homeland" failed to be recognized this year with no nomination under its belt.
Aaron Paul leads the happy cast on stage as they accept the award in a room full of people all admiring them for their hard work and dedication for the series. "Breaking Bad's" showrunner Vince Gilligan thanked all the fans who supported the show until its very end, particularly the "early adopters."
"I gotta say the best thing about this is it gives all the people up here and folks who worked on Breaking Bad one more chance to thank the fans of the show," said Gilligan.
Paul even signed off with his popular expression, "Yeah, B****! This is the first time that the Hollywood Foreign Press awarded the show and nominating it in the drama category. One of the most critically acclaimed shows in television; it seems that the award body only recognized the show's efforts when it finally ended last year.
But that's not all, "Breaking Bad's" very own Mr. Heisenberg Bryan Cranston also took home the Best Actor Award for TV Drama Series for the first time for playing the legendary Walter White. This is the Cranston's fifth nomination and the fourth consecutive one for his role as a chemistry teacher turned drug kingpin.
The actor says that the award is a ""lovely way to say goodbye to the show that meant so much to me." He also thanked the show's producer for giving him the opportunity to play a role of a lifetime.
"I'm up here because of Vince Gilligan," said Cranston. "He's a genius."
