Honoring the best of film and TV, the 71st Golden Globe Awards kicked off the Oscar award season tonight with a long list of Hollywood stars all lining up to be chosen as the best among their peers. For 2013, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association hands out a tough competition between the nominees and tonight we will know who will emerge as the winner.

Returning hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler jumpstart the annual event for the second year in a row with their witty humor and hilarious jokes. "We are hosting the Golden Globes for our second time, because this is Hollywood and if something works they'll keep doing it until everone hates it," Fey quipped.

FBI's Abscam case "American Hustle" and McQueen's "12 Years a Slave" are the front runners for this year's award with seven nominations each. For TV, "House of Cards" and HBO's "Behind the Candelabra" are up with four nominations each.

"American Hustle" star Jennifer Lawrence is the first big winner for the movie as the favorite Best Supporting Actress, beating Sally Hawkins in "Blue Jasmine," Julia Roberts in "August: Osage County," June Squibb in "Nebraska," and newcomer Lupita Nyong'o in "12 Years a Slave."

Another winner for the movie is Amy Adams for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy. The actress beat French Actress Julie Delpy in "Before Midnight," Greta Gerwig in "Frances Halladay," Julia Louis-Dreyfus in "Enough Said," and veteran actress Meryl Streep in "August: Osage County."

Jared Leto won the Best Supporting Actor in Drama, Musical or Comedy in "Dallas Buyers Club" beating Bradley Cooper in "American Hustle," Michael Fassbender in "12 Years a Slave," newcomer Barkhad Abdi in "Captain Philips" and Daniel Bruhl in "Rush."

Veteran actors Robert Redford and Bruce Dern are both nominated for Best Actor Awards against actors who are half their age. Alext Ebert of Redford's "All is Lost" won for Original Score and U2"s "Ordinary Love" and "Danger Mouse" won for Original Song for "Mandela: Long Walk of Freedom."

"Breaking Bad" is breaking serious record as the series won the Best Drama Series among the tough nominees including, "Downtown Abbey" and "House of Cards." The series main actor Bryan Cranston took home the Best Actor Award for Drama Series beating tough contenders like Kevin Spacey, James Spader, Live Schreiber and Michael Sheen.
