2014 Tony Awards: Broadway's Hottest Red Carpet Look
Hosted by Australian actor Hugh Jackman, the 68th Tony Awards was a star-studded event featuring the "X-Men: Days of Future Past" star hopping and rapping around the stage. Not as dramatic as the Oscars, this year's award show delivered a lot of surprises and buzz worth moments with big Hollywood stars in attendance, including "Breaking Bad's" Bryan Cranston and "How I Met Your Mother" star Neil Patrick Harris.
Shining brighter than the lights of Broadway, the Sunday's Radio City Music Hall event in New York City was covered with glitz and glamour as Broadway stars paraded their couture dresses and outfits. Red carpet stunner Emmy Rossum stole the spotlight with her Ralph Lauren gown, taken from the designer's Pre-Fall collection which she paired with silver Ralph Lauren accessories.
"American Idol" alum Jennifer Hudson stole the show with her "Finding Neverland" performance and the red carpet with her figure hugging slinky silver sequin gown by Kaufmanfranco. An evening to celebrate last year's Broadway highlights, Hudson treated everyone in the audience as she transported the event to the land where dreams are born and time is non-existent.
Other stunners in the event include "30 Rock" star Tina Fey, who flaunted her toned figure in Oscar de la Renta's mermaid gown with silver embellishments. Joining her co-star Bryan Cranston in the event, Anna Gunn wore a gilded trend, sporting a gold floral dress by Jenny Packham.
It seemed that the awards night was packed with celebrities wearing shimmering metallic outfits, including 70-year-old stars Gladys Knight and Pattie Labelle. Knight dazzled the night with her gold blazer over her white sheath dress, while Labelle donned a black pantsuit and finished it off with sequined empress coat designed by Zang Toi.
Stage actress Audra McDonald made history when she won her sixth Tony as Billie Holiday in "Lady Day." McDonald is the only woman in Tony history to win all four acting categories, but tied with the late actress Julie Harries, who won six awards including a special lifetime achievement award.
"I want to thank all the shoulders of the strong and brave and courageous women that I am standing on," she said on her acceptance speech posted on SMH. "And most of all Billie Holiday. You deserve so much more than you were given when you were on this earth."
