2016 MTV VMAs: Britney Spears makes most-anticipated comeback
Oops... she did it again! Britney Spears, 34, rocked the stage with her show-stopping performance at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards at New York City’s Madison Square Garden on Monday.
Dressed in a sparkly gold, skin-baring bodysuit, the Princess of Pop delivered a sexy performance of her latest single “Make Me…” from her recently released album “Glory.” Halfway through the performance, she was joined by collaborator G-Eazy, who was surprised when the songstress launched into the rapper’s hit “Me, Myself & I,” singing Bebe Rexha’s part. The pair concluded the performance with an embrace and Spears giving G-Eazy a peck on the cheek.
This is the singer’s first time to perform at the VMAs after a seven-year hiatus. Considering the fact that her last appearance in the awards show in 2007 isn’t held in such high esteem, the “I’m a Slave 4 U” singer admitted earlier this week that she’s nervous of her return.
“Every time I’ve performed [at the VMAs], it’s always been one of those really big, nerve-wracking experiences, and the people that come — those celebrities — are just so much fun and different,” she said in an interview with 103.5 KTU radio station on Friday. “I still get very nervous.”
The singer has been a VMA staple and a show stealer since her first performance at the awards show in 2007. She shocked the audience with her sizzling performance of “I’m a Slave 4 U” in 2011 (where she bravely danced onstage with a yellow python) and broke headlines with her controversial kiss with Madonna in 2003.
The mother of two has released her new album, “Glory,” just last week. She also appeared recently on a hilarious carpool karaoke video with James Corden where she revealed that she would love to have a collaboration with ex Justin Timberlake.
