’24: Live Another Day’ UK & U.S. Simulcast, Jack Bauer is Back! [VIDEO]
Thanks to the success of HBO's epic fantasy series "Game of Thrones," "24" prequel "24: Live Another Day" will simulcast on SKY 1 as the same time as it airs in the U.S. The network has been pulling out all of the stops to gain more viewers for the big-budget TV shows by airing the series same time as its American counterparts.
"Jack is Back" on FOX and he will be running around the streets of London as he attempts to stop an unthinkable terrorist attack. Played by Kiefer Sutherland, Jack Bauer will retain the real-time, nail-biting and fast-paced format of the show as it features split screens and interweaving storylines.
The award-winning series will return to screens next month, on its May 5 premiere and its first two episodes will air on Sky 1 on Tuesday, May 6, at 1 A.M. Following the success of "Game of Thrones" season 4, episode 1 premiere, "24: Live Another Day" will settle on its original time slot on Wednesday at 9 P.M for the show's episode 3 to the last.
"If people like staying up for event TV, we are showing launch Ep of new series of 24 at 1am Tues 6th May, same time as NY," tweeted Stuart Murphy, Sky's entertainment channels head.
Launching with a double-bill on May 5, "24: Live Another Day" 10 remaining episodes will be aired over subsequent weeks on Monday at 9/8c.
''I'm delighted that Jack and the team at '24' are returning exclusively to Sky 1 HD. The scale, ambition and fast-paced energy of the series epitomize everything we look for in a drama for the channel. I can't wait to bring it back to our customers," says Sky 1 director McDonald for the show's UK and U.S. simulcast.
Based on the show's trailer, the next chapter of the "24"franchise will begin four years after the series finale wherein Jack Bauer is no longer working with the law. Now a fugitive on the run, Jack Bauer ended its run in 2010 when he came into conflict with both the U.S and Russian governments.
Now fleeing from the country he swore to protect, watch Jack Bauer as he tries to save the world once again in London. The upcoming show will star Mary Lynn Rajskub, Kim Raver and William Devane as they reprise their original roles.
Newcomers to the drama series include Yvonne Strahovski, Giles Matthey, Gbenga Akinnagbe, Michael Wincott and Judy Davis.
