Indie fever is not subsiding, especially down under where bands with edgy sounds are sprouting like random critters on your backyard. Here are five bands worth a listen, especially if you're planning to widen your preference.

Tame Impala

These guys from Perth sound like The Beatles on some stonger, new-age LSD. Their tracks are charged with so much psychedelia that sometimes we wonder if there are really drugs streaming through the sound waves of their songs. Listening to this band feels like the speakers are shooting out tunnels that trap our ears, and then our minds. If you want something that sounds old-yet-feels new, their concoction of the 70's sound mixed with modern vibrations is perfect. The band's latest record, Lonerism, just dropped, and it is a chock-full of color, overlaps, tangy basslines, and subliminal lyrics care of vocalist and cerebral member, Kevin Parker. Check out their other albums, Innerspeaker and Sundown Syndrome. As a visual bonus to accompany their intoxicated sound, their music videos are also known to be heavily appealing in terms of the stuff one usually sees when under the influence of hallucinogens.

The Black Ryder

This two-piece act from Sydney reminds us of Mazzy Star with their dark and enigmatic shoegaze approach to folk. Formed in 2007 by ex-The Morning After Girls members, Aimee Nash and Scott Von Ryper, the duo have collaborated with similar-sounding bands like The Brian Jonestown Massacre and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club in some of their releases. Their song, All That We See, has been featured in the soundtrack of the popular television series, House M.D. during its 7th season. Listen to the song below.
