A toddler's arm was ripped off by a spinning washing machine when he opened it during its spin cycle.

Lewis Lightfoot, 3, was rushed to the hospital by his mother, Rachel Roberts. But doctors were unable to save his arm due to severe damages caused by the accident.

Rachel, 24, was in the living room when she heard Lewis screaming. She said her other child, a 5-year-old, had seen Lewis at the height of the accident and was traumatized by the sight.

"When I asked him about what happened, he said, 'I opened the door and went round and round and then my arm fell off,'" Rachel told Mirror.co.uk.

"I can't believe he was able to open the door so easily. It was terrifying. I'm devastated," Rachel added.
