A fourth American porn star has tested positive for HIV, bolstering the need for adult movie performers to wear condoms for their sex scenes, which the porn industry has bucked prior to recent positive testings of XXX-rated actors.

Michael Weinstein, president of the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, said on Tuesday that the fourth porn star, a male, contacted the foundation to inform them of his health situation. Mr Weinstein did not provide more details about the actor.

The disclosure of HIV positive results came one after the other, causing a moratorium on filming of porn movies.

First, there was Cameron Bay, then she was followed by Rod Daily, who was once romantically linked to Bay, although he is gay, and even talked about safe sex in a 2012 interview.

The third actor is also anonymous, but the positive HIV test was confirmed by a doctor at the health facility the actor used.

Mr Weinstein said he was not sure if the fourth actor contracted the sexually transmitted disease while filming a porn movie. "Whether or not (Bay) was infected on set, she performed with HIV between her tests. If you think that Russian roulette is a great way to protect workers, then the present system is perfect," The LA Times quoted Mr Weinstein.

Following the rash of porn stars being diagnosed with HIV, the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, behind the greater push for the implementation of the statewide condom rule, rolled out a robocall campaign on Thursday against Assemblyman Mike Gatto who the foundation claims stopped the legislation.

The porn industry had required all actors whose last STD test was before Aug 19 to go through another test again, while considering further shortening the frequency that sex performers must take the test to 14 from 28 days.
