Multigenre convention, The San Diego Comic-Con was one of the most exciting so far, with surprise performances left and right, and even more surprising announcements and teasers. What's more, it's not limited to the celebrities on-site, as one of the anticipated franchises, so to speak, of a favorite thriller-drama made a second run this year.

From the standout performance of a villain in a Marvel movie and the big reveal of superhero plans, to the collection of kickass looks and cosplays during the event, here are the five highlights worth looking back at for the Comic-Con 2013.

5. Movie Teasers for Everyone

If you have been looking forward to an event with a comprehensive reveals and announcements of much-awaited movies, Comic-Con is the place. Or perhaps, it was Hall H. Thanks to SDCC Unoffocial Blog for these Vine moments.

Hall H, Where the entire cast of the upcoming X-Men Days of Future Past lined up altogether on stage.

Not only that, you also have the panel for Hunger Games: Catching Fire, set to debut on November 20 this year.

Legendary panel also feature two movies that took the stage by storm, the first being Godzilla, where a preview footage was showed off featuring what could be Mothra, reports Los Angeles Times.

300: Rise of an Empire was also showcased in the panel, introducing a much bigger world than the first introduced by its .

predecessor.

"If you took '300' and you zoomed out, that's what this movie is all about," said Noam Murro, Director, Los Angeles Times. "It takes place at about the same time as '300,' it's just bigger and it gives a whole bigger scale and scope to what happened historically,"he added.

4. Marvel Reveals Battle Plan - DC has an Answer

It's almost hard to battle it out against the neat and laid-out plans that Marvel has for its universe, a plan that has mapped out the movies, characters, and events that way until 2015.

At Comic-Con, one can say that Warner Bros. tried to compete in the best way that it can in terms of the prowess of superheroes, and it did so with the announcement of the Superman-Batman movie.

A DC universe seems almost unlikely if put on the same grand scale that Marvel Studios has made its own franchise to be. Imagine, Thor: The Dark World coming out this October, Captain America: Winter Soldier set for April 2014, and the much-anticipated and now dubbed Avengers 2: Age of Ultron, which was announced at the Comic-Con to head for theaters on May 1, 2015.

Still, even with Marvel's announcements, and with the performance of an actor that will be revealed later on, a Superman-Batman duo in a movie is something epic for hardcore fans.

Entertainment Weekly even reported about the redesigned Batman costume that can go well with the Superman that was released this year. Perhaps the very idea that something as dark, brooding, and human as Batman can merge with the god-like, alien, and all-American Superman can be a showdown to really wait for.

3. Top-notch Costumes: Kickass, Badass and Sexy-ass Cosplay

Aside from all the cool panels, surprise announcements, and permission to go all nerdy on your favorite franchise, Comic-Con is also known for one other thing: the cosplay scene.

The abbreviated term for costume play, for those who may not know, cosplay is fast becoming a trend for those who attend this event and other conventions, for that matter.

This year, Comic-Con has paved the way for many a great costume, from zombies and zombie superheroes, alien life forms, cadets from the hit anime Shingeki no Kyojin, among many others. Comic-Con 2013, has seen many lively characters beyond the celebrities.

Indeed, it's a place where everyone can find a niche that they can enjoy, just like these cosplayers in this video compilation.

2. Get Chased by Walkers!

It's one thing to relive The Walking Dead through rerun marathons and through Telltale Games' video game. But it's another to actually run for your lives (so to speak) when you're faced with real live walkers.

The Walking Dead Escape makes another run this year, following its debut during Comic-Con weekend last year. For this Comic-Con, The Walking Dead Escape was held at Petco Park, last July 19 and 20.

Unlike some zombie runs that you've seen in the past year, The Walking Dead Escape is not a race, but an obstacle course--meaning it's a survival mode that goes beyond just running. According to Daily Dead, "You'll be sliding around, crawling, and climbing just to avoid the zombies." And that, in itself, is already a tough challenge, as they are everywhere. The goal was to reach the decontamination zone, where they will be scanned to see just how infected you were before you got there.

"As promised, we will be upping the ante as we bring on board celebrated and renowned new partner, AMC," said Liam Brenner, founder of the event, to Daily Dead. And up the ante they did, as the obstacle course this year featured more props and even scenes from the Walking Dead to heighten the experience.

Here's a look at how the zombie run was like from Maximum PC:

1. Loki Takes over Hall H

Quite literally, for this one, and fans went wild when they realized that a performance was already ongoing.

Starting with how the mic faltered and Hall H was engulfed in darkness, before Loki's voice filled the entire "meager palace of MIdgard." "Humanity, look how far you've fallen!" And as expected, the joy of the crowd resounded before Tom Hiddleston, who plays Loki--and will reprise the role for this year's Thor: The Dark World - took to the stage in an well-executed and well-received performance before launching some new footage for the movie sequel.
