5 Improvements in BlackBerry Z10’s First Software Update
Users of the new BlackBerry Z10 will be happy to hear that its first software update, the BlackBerry 10.0.10.85, has targeted five key areas to ensure the improvement of the device.
"You've been using it for weeks, and we've been listening to your feedback, and have been working on an update just for you. It's already available from some carriers and we're working closely with all our carrier partners to get it to you as soon as possible," the company said in a statement to PC Advisor.
The BlackBerry 10 is said to be about 150 MB, and is available over the air, so you'll be notified for any updates.
Battery life boost
Z10 users who have struggled with the issue of battery life can now experience longer hours peer charging, as the update brings with it 60 battery saving improvements.
GottaBeMobile reports that aside from the battery life fixes, this should translate to longer time between charges for the handset.
App galore
Third party apps are also part of the improvement, as the update has supposedly made them faster and offer a better user experience.
Part of this development is the confirmation that WhatsApp will be in BlackBerry World. According to TechRadar, this is in answer to how the launch had mentioned BlackBerry and WhatsApp having that relationship wherein the latter is fully behind BlackBerry in its new OS.
Camera enhancements
Low-light photography has not been the Z10's strong suit, but according to GigaOM, the Z10 camera is also in for an update. You can now shoot better photos in low-light conditions, an improvement and resolution for some of the issues for its camera.
Contacts and calendars
BlackBerry is known for providing the smoothest communication in a handset, which is why one of its improvements involves fixing the BlackBerry Hub, its newest pride in keeping you connected, reports PC Advisor. This means easier ways to import contacts from your online touch base, as well as logging calls.
PC Advisor also reports that the BlackBerry 10.0.10.85 has fixes specifically for Gmail accounts for improved user experience.
Online videos and media
According to BlackBerry.com, adjustments have been made to improve browser experience for video playback and online media content to fully maximise the Z10's potential.
