Disney Maleficent retells the story of 1959 animated film Sleeping Beauty from the point of view of the Mistress of All Evil herself, Maleficent. New trailer shows five intriguing story angles: Maleficent strong wings, a dragon, a great war, villain's backstory and betrayal.

Maleficent with Wings

In the 1959 animated film Sleeping Beauty, Maleficent has no wings and appeared as cruel evil witch. However, in the live-action version Maleficent, the movie revealed that she used to have wings. According to the latest trailer released by Disney, Maleficent told Aurora why she could not fly like other fairies in the present.

"I had wings once. They were strong. But they were stolen from me," Maleficent explains to Aurora.

The Dragon

Maleficent transformed into a huge dragon in the animated film Sleeping Beauty in an attempt to stop the prince from breaking the curse on Aurora. So far, no trailers yet have been released showing the evil queen transformed into a mighty dragon. In the latest trailer, a raven morphed into a dragon but not entirely detailed if it is Maleficent or her pet raven, Diaval.

You can also see that the dragon breathes fire and attacking soldiers inside a hallway of a certain castle.

Great War

Maleficent has some taste of fashion as her character played by Angelina Jolie wore different outfits based on several trailers. One of these outfits resembles a hide armour of such usually worn by druids or nature priestess in popular games - it describes that she is the fiercest protector of the forest kingdom.

"I call on those live in the shadows, fight with me now," her summoning call from various creatures of the forest kingdom to disperse an invading army.

Backstory

Maleficent's background is very intriguing and even Angelina Jolie got curious on what she was like and who she was, as she told audiences at D23 Expo. Based on the new trailer, Maleficent is a fairy but lost her wings, which will be revealed why it happened in cinemas soon.

"There is evil in this world. Hatred and revenge," Maleficent expressed her own point of view to the world and possible reflection of her painful past.

Betrayal

It seems like Maleficent was a good fairy prior to the christening of Aurora but something turned her pure heart into stone, made her evil and let her do terrible things. In the trailers, it is obvious that King Stefan and Maleficent have unresolved issues with Aurora caught in the middle.

"I shall bestow a gift on the child. Before the sunset on her sixteenth birthday, she will fall into a sleep-like death," Maleficent curses baby Aurora.

Moreover, Maleficent also appears to deceive Aurora, as the princess did not know who she was.

"Is it true? Are you Maleficent?" stunning question asked by Aurora to the Mistress of All Evil.

Maleficent highlights the evil queen's untold story and her youth along with her curse to Aurora and the battle between good and evil within 135 minutes film showing on May 30 worldwide.
