In the last few years, several superhero themed movies turned out to become box office hits, raking in millions of dollars and making a household name out of characters like Wolverine, Iron Man and Hulk among others. Fans, however, are still demanding that some of their favorite characters from the comic books deserve their own movie franchise.

1. Aquaman

Fans have long waited for a movie franchise of the water-based hero. DC Comics' Aquaman is a ruler of the ocean, with vast abilities and powers not only limited to the sea. Pastemagazine.com wrote that a lot of fans shared that they wanted Garrett Hedlund to play the main role and Benh Zeitlin to direct. It would be a great high-budget film, with scenes taken both on land and underwater.

2. Deadpool

After Wolverine and Punisher came out with their own movie franchises, it was only natural for comics fans to ask for a Deadpool movie. Similar to the other two antiheroes, Deadpool is a mentally unstable mercenary who fights crime. He is a master of martial arts and stealth and also likes to use a variety of weapons. Fans hope that Ryan Reynolds would star in the Marvel movie.

3. Galactus

As Marvel Universe continues to unravel with each new franchise, cosmic beings are gradually being featured such. In a report by Newsarama.com, Galactus made a cameo appearance in Rise of the Silver Surfer in 2007, which alerted fans that he might be the next Fantastic Four nemesis. The Age of Ultron is coming up next, which also features cosmic beings so Galactus may be in theaters in the next few years.

4. Namor

Namor, the Sub-Mariner is king of Atlantis and like Aquaman, is water-based but have several abilities that could make a great film. According to The Telegraph, Namor is one of the most exciting superheroes that fans believe deserves a film. It can also be a great move for Marvel to focus on an environmentally friendly character for a change.

5. Doctor Strange

Compared to several Marvel movies which focus on advanced technology and mutant abilities, Doctor Strange is an arch-magus that relies on magic and wizardry to fight his enemies. Having Joaquin Phoenix star as Doctor Strange would make an interesting plot set to be another box office hit.

This list should be long, of course. Who's your bet? Tell us in the comments!
