On Dec. 6, 2013, the nominations for Grammy Awards (2014) were announced. The event took place as an annual nominations concert called The Grammy Nominations Concert Live- Countdown to Music's Biggest Night. It was hosted by LL Cool J. The highlights of the concert were performances by some of the nominees like: Lorde, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Taylor Swift, Robin Thicke and Taylor Swift. Along with the performances, the nominees for 56th Annual Grammy Awards (2014) were also announced.

Things to Know about 56th Annual Grammy Awards (2014)

56th Annual Grammy Awards 2014 will be held on Jan. 26, 2014. The music's biggest night will be celebrated in Staples Center in Los Angeles. And the show will broadcast on CBS at 8 p.m. ET/P.

The nominations of the show that were announced in the Grammy Nomination Concert Live are announced for the works of the artists within the eligibility period of Oct. 1, 2012 through Sep. 30, 2013.

A new addition has been made to categories of Grammy Awards in 2014. New Category for Best American Roots Song has been added to the American Roots Music Field. And the category Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance category has been renamed as Best Metal Performance.

Also, ten music teachers from ten cities across eight states have been announced as nominees for Grammy's first-ever Music Educator Award. The ten finalists were chosen from 30,000 nominations from 50 states across the world. The award recognizes music educators from kindergarten through college who is contributing significantly in the field of music education. The recipient of the award will receive a $ 10,000 reward and the other 9 finalists will receive a $1000 reward.

56th Annual Grammy Awards 2014 have the total number of 82 categories.
