5SOS join Fall Out Boy, One Direction on Ryan Seacrest’s New Year's Eve show
5 Seconds of Summer will be one of the musical guests of “American Idol” host Ryan Seacret’s New’s Eve show. Titled “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2016,” the show will air on ABC on Dec. 31.
The upcoming show marks Seacrest’s 11th year leading the annual New Year's celebration. Jenny McCarthy will be part of the show by providing live reporting, according to Us Weekly.
Aside from 5SOS, other artists to be featured in “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2016” are One Direction, Fall Out Boy, Walk the Moon, Fergie, Ellie Goulding, Tove Lo, Elle King and Rachel Platten. The show will also feature a performance by “American Idol” Season 4 winner Carrie Underwood at the Times Square along with Demi Lovato, Luke Bryan and “See You Again” collaborators Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth.
Weeks before “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2016,” 5SOS celebrated their fourth anniversary. The Australian pop punk band, which consists of Ashton Irwin, Michael Clifford , Luke Hemmings and Calum Hood, started as YouTube celebrities and rose to fame while touring with One Direction on the “ Take Me Home Tour . ”
On Oct. 23, 5SOS released their second studio album titled “Sounds Good Feels Good” under Capitol Records. “She’s Kinda Hot,” the first single from the album, was released on July 17 and followed by “Hey Everybody,” which was released on Oct. 9, and “Jet Black Heart,” as the third single was announced on Nov. 16.
Two other songs were made available to download prior to the official release of “Sounds Good Feels Good.” “Fly Away” was released on Aug. 13 while “Money” was released on Sept. 17.
Recently, 5SOS performed at 102.7 KIIS FM’s 2015 Jing Ball concert. After the concert, Irwin was seen at The Grove in Los Angeles holding hands with his girlfriend Bryana Holly, according to Just Jared.
