Seven aircrafts will be added to the domestic fleet of Qantas Airways Limited (QAN). The new airplanes will give 66,000 seats per week into the local market in 2011.

Qantas chief executive Alan Joyce said, “We are seeing improved demand domestically and the introduction of these additional services and aircraft will see the Qantas group well placed to meet this demand..”

Qantas added a Boeing 767 in to service the Sydney-Perth route last month. The jumbo jet is the company's first addition to the domestic flights. The second carrier, an extra Airbus A330, would come in on January next year, while five Boeing 737-800s would come on board during the second quarter.

Qantas would also have direct flights from Brisbane to Broome would be in operation between April and October. Qantas subsidiary, the Jetstar group, would carry passengers from the domestic stops to international destinations.

Jetstar chief executive Bruce Buchanan said a daily service between the Gold Coast and Cairns would bring in more international visitors to Australia. Jetstar maintains a long-term commercial agreement with Cairns airport.

The subsidiary flies internationally from the city to Japan and Singapore. The low-cost airline will have New Zealand in its international route in 2011.
