"7th Heaven" star Stephen Collins wants to stop spousal support to his wife because he reportedly cannot afford to do so. All his income sources were affected after a recording of his confession of molesting underage girls was leaked to the media.

Following the leak of his confession and the repercussions that went with it, Stephen Collins wants to stop paying spousal support to his estranged wife, whom he believes was the one behind the leak of said confession. The expose is said to have cost the 67-year-old veteran actor a role in the upcoming film, "Ted 2," as well as stopped scheduled reruns of one of the longest-running family-oriented show, "7th Heaven," off two cable networks.

Reportedly, Stephen Collins was immediately fired from "Ted 2" when the audio of his confession of child molestation emerged. After TMZ released the audio, he was fired just after two hours. As such, he lost $75,000 for the lost project plus residuals.

Because he does not expect to receive any acting offers in the future due to the incident, Stephen wants the judge to eliminate any future spousal support payments to his estranged wife, Faye Grant. His attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, already filed a trial brief last Friday. "Spousal support should be zero, as a result of the unlawful recording that was disseminated to the media," Kaplan's brief reads. Currently, the spousal support stands at $13,000 monthly.

Stephen is also saying that Faye should be penalised for the unlawful recording of his confession and the leaking of the video. The confession was made in a therapy session, which Faye secretly recorded. Faye, however, said that she did not leak the recording of this 2012 therapy session to TMZ. She said she only released the video to the police when Stephen refused to get help.

A trial on how to divide the pair's assets has already been scheduled to start on Wednesday. It will focus on how to divide the assets they have accumulated during the marriage. Stephen and Faye tied the knot in 1985 but filed for a divorce in 2012.
